This blog is going to made up of randomness, I'd like to say ahead of time this blog isn't only going to contain stuff about being "Compelled By Love", its also going to contain bits of my everyday life. I can promise you, though, that there will be no trash talk, or inappropriate content.
What does it mean to be "Compelled By Love"? "Love is a passion. It’s not something you can learn. It’s not something you can fake. It’s real. It’s something you are born with, whether you realize it or not. LOVE COMPELS. You can’t escape it. When this love deeply moves you, you have no other choice then to do something about it. You can’t walk away. You can’t forget. You can’t blind yourself to it. You have to act.

You can’t walk away. You can’t forget. You can’t blind yourself to it. You have to act.
When love is your motivator, when love is the soul source of what causes you to act and respond to every situation, your life changes. Things happen. When you don’t allow the things of this world to distract you and cause you to be blinded to how the Lord is trying to use you – you’ll find this to be more easy."
I was privileged to be able to attend MYC '10-- Oct. 21-23. "There I realized What compelled me to love, his name is Jesus Christ! He has changed my life. My life wouldn’t be the same without him! I could quote all the bible verses in the world, and volunteer at 14 different homeless shelters a week, and start a prayer group, but it means nothing – if my heart isn’t in the right place. And in order for my heart to be in the right place, I need to be COMPELLED BY LOVE.
- 1 John 4:19-- “We love because he FIRST loved us.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:13-- “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Love. It’s simple. Don’t respond because “you have to.” Don’t respond by guilt. Don’t give or serve because of the reward you’ll get or recognition. Respond because you want to. Respond because you believe in the cause, the people, because you are overwhelmingly pressured from within to do something. Don’t sit still and let life and God’s opportunities pass you by.
Love. What would Jesus do? What did he do? He LOVED. The sinners. The prostitutes. The ones who beat and spit on him. The one who hung him on a cross and humiliated him in front of humanity. The lepers. The cast out. The broken. The lonely. The lost. He LOVED. Not because he had to. He just, above all else chose to cling to the one thing that wouldn’t cause him to break. To taint him. He CHOSE to LOVE. Past the spitting. Past the judgment. Past the evil stares and humiliation. Past the beating. Past losing his life. Humanity was so screwed up, God could not sit back and imagine an eternity without his creation – whom he desires to be with. Willingly. Freely. And because we are not perfect, he sent his son – his own son – out of LOVE. Come on. He was compelled to move – to ACT. To change the final circumstances of a situation. And it just wasn’t for everyone then, but for now and the rest of eternity.
So right now God, I pray for anyone reading this, Father, that you would soften their hearts. Unveil their eyes and show them how to love like you love. Compel them to not sit back and go through the motions, but to LOVE. To act. To be WORLD-CHANGERS. To be YOUR hands and feet. God, may YOUR love compel them to go forth in confidence and boldness to fully live the life you are calling them to. May your love compel them to be used by you in any way you need them. And Father, may they do it joyfully – because you loved us first – and we learn from you. Show them right now, what may be blocking and distracting them from seeing and hearing you clearly in this moment, in this night, this week and even further. God you are good, your love is great and we praise you – for we are fearfully and wonderfully made by you who pursues us with your love. Thank you for your love. In your name, Amen."
